All grown up

by Angie Jenkins

When I was a child
I clung to a nightlight
To protect me from the ghosts and the
Boogeymen and the
Evil of the world
But now that I’m older I keep my
Nightlight in a box in my closet
For I know now that the real monsters
Do not live under my bed
And no amount of light
Will ever protect me from their darkness.

Real monsters? The greatest monster in life is our own fear. Anyone that can overcome their fear completely will never have another monster harm them again.

So true...I find that I thought life was so much easier when monsters supposedly lived under our beds instead of all around us. What a gorgeous write.
