In the light of your love

by Shannon McEwen

When the panic presses
Against my rib cage
Straining against the bone
Made in the garden of Eden

Trapping the pressure
And the trepidation
Between breast
And bone

Demanding release
Praying for forgiveness
For all of Eve’s sins
And those after

Then the stroke
Of your big hand
Travelling down
Each strand of my hair

Until your touch
Loosens the pressure
Unknots the fear
And scares away the serpent

Some nice bits of imagery all the way through this.
