Two Halves of the Same Broken Heart

by Marjorie Anne Reagan

You lay there like a baby
blood dripping into you feverishly sleeping
I look upon you strong man
and know the pain he spared me from going through this sooner.

Your pain
my pain
helping each other through
in our muddling way.

Knowing we are each a mess.
Accepting each other.
Right, wrong, whatever.
The mere fact either of us draws another breath
to see a new day is a miracle.

Appreciating horseback riding on the beach
the rain, air and each heartbeat wether yours or mine.

Sometimes i hate you for holding me under so long
that I began to breathe under the same drowning water as you
sometimes you hate the fact you want me around still

we became a twisted mess of eachotherness
melded symbiotically thriving
neither one with out the other

but together
perfect happiness shared
pain shared

holding each other up
keeping the life blood flowing
two halves of the same broken heart.

How many relationships are held together this way 'we became a twisted mess of eachotherness'. Loved it lady!

Oh wow...this is such a winner! I think we've all had a love like this one before...and man oh man, do they stick with you!

That second stanza is stunning.

beautiful - I love poetry that talks about love in reality.

I do so love the idea of loving each other in a "muddling" way. It describes some of the best relationships I've ever known. Thank you for this.
