where the camel and the shark see eye to eye

by Kristina Woodhill

prohibition winter
chapped land
carmex flew south
took a long cruise
tour guide keeps
scratching at the sand
this is where it was
I swear it was this wide
I swear it was this deep

Oasis and sister Allure
tear up, blink high and dry
little eyes peep out the port holes
little umbrellas try to uncover a new drink
everything is listing
everything has lost its gangplank
the deserted island guy over here
is waving
at the deserted island guy over there
they exchange pineapples on sundays
they dress for dinner

Having been on cruises, I think i know the guy selling those exotic drinks with the tiny umbrellas well. Very well conceived and written, Kristina

Your "this is where..." poems are fascinating me! I want to pass them along to Naomi :) who'll also love them
