For Frank

by Kate Demeree

I do not cry
I do not weep
Nor toss and turn
In fitful sleep

My heart and soul
Are free at last
From the hurtful torments
Of my past

I have grown tired
Of the burdens I bare
Though I thank you
For your loving care

I feel no anger now
I feel no pain
No sorrow or regret
No thought of gain

My body once tied to
That dreadful chair
Is whole again and
Light as air

My wounds are healed
My sorrow is gone
It is time now
For you to go on

Please do not cry,
Please do not weep
I have closed my eyes
I finally sleep

Although I sense a certain tension through the words between you and your step-father, my condolences, Kate.
