This, That, And A Few Other Things by Chris Sorrenti
It has nothing to do with the Mayan calendar
Or that others are more creative than me
For fear of being self indulgent
Or repeating myself
Once more suffering from empty brain
Just can’t shake this writer’s block
Truth is I’m relatively happy
Though Iran gives me cause for concern
I’m cautiously optimistic
That Doomsday will be a no show
So what the hell then do I write about?
For 38 years I’ve been banging my head
Into doors and windows
While trying to show just cause
I’ve said it all so many times
In so many ways
I’ve grown weary
Of this game of Charades
But just can’t shake the bug

Posted by Gabriel Ricard on 01/07/12 at 06:19 PM I'm working on relatively happy. Glad you are, too. Great work. |
Posted by Alison McKenzie on 01/07/12 at 06:28 PM I know, and I've been saying for a LONG time, that the melancholy/angsty bits beg release far more forcefully than the happy bits. You've summed that up nicely here. It's taken a GREAT deal of hard work to write the happy, but it's usually worth it in the end!!! |
