a dance with the dust

by Colleen Sperry

You suddenly appear in the darkest places
Sway in with the slightest breeze
Stagger out with a promise to return

Yet, I have mastered a rhythm
to dash surfaces delightfully clean
because you have no true substance
and I know now your steps are simply fraudulent

The biting edge to this effectively removes any traces of wist.

A very nice write lady. I do believe sometimes we fall into someone's life because we 'need' them of they 'need' us. It may be for a short time or a long time but may never be meant for forever.

There are no ifs, ands or buts about this poem. Very deliberate and effective. Great write.

This is an excellent poem as it has made me stop and think quite a bit. This is really a wonderful poem.

Yes, especially what Jody and Daniel say. This is powerfully expressed, especially that final thunk, damn!

What a great choice for POTD! Congrats my friend!

Loved this POTD! I really like the words "suddenly," "sway", and "stagger" in that first stanza. "to dash surfaces delightfully clean" such a visually strong line.
