Snackin' on the Sky

by Kristina Woodhill

Eye
spy
bright silver
shiny, shiny
cookie
in my
sky

someone left a cookie out
hangin' in the sky,
bet you
hungry cookie eaters
soon be passin' by

little mouse
mouth,
nibble
nibble
sweet!

(hey, man, hey, woman,
why you watch me eat!)

someone got some milk?
someone got some tea?
someone got a dipper?
pass that big one here to me!

this cookie start to smile
this cookie start to grin
this cookie mighty tasty
this cookie getting thin;

cookie sigh,

sky,
oh,
sky,

bye
bye

Author's Note: Fantastic total lunar eclipse this morning. First time I've been able to sit inside and watch the whole thing from the comfort of a chair, binoculars and cats in lap.

Awww, this is fun!!!! Love it!! It was completely cloudy here, so I didn't get to see it. Thanks for sharing your experience!!!

Really cute write lady. I recall seeing an eclipse of the sun one summer. I believe it was the early 70's. I was standing the sculpture garden of the MOMA in New York City. It was quite an experience.

Fanciful! This would make a lovely children's book.

Oh gosh..I set my alarm to see such a beauty and then it was covered in overcast skies..but now I am there as I had wished..Thank you truly!

Wonderful way to express the eclipse, giving the natural event a human reflection that cheers the heart. (I too missed it. Forgot it was to happen! *sigh*)
