E.M.S.

by Melinda Sordino

The full moon shines down
As bright lights and sirens call
Warning to the emergency doctors
That a life hangs in the balance.
It may have come upon them
Silent as a cat in the night or
Sudden as firecrackers on the fourth of July
Life teeters for us to decide.
