December Nights by Kevin Fehlenthese cold december nights seep a chill so deep
the asphalt jungle slick with shiny ice
it's hard to stay upon one's feet when the
convulsive spasms of a frozen mind
and the glass like ground beneath your feet
work so hard to pull you to their level
the drifts of snow bury you in thoughts
so white and pure, but they float away
on frozen breath, and disappear into
translucent vapor causing you to wonder
what happened to your fingers and toes.
the sun plays games, causing you to thaw
a little inside and then flash freezing you in time.
'tis cruel, this man winter. 11/29/2011 Author's Note: Originally written December 2010.

Posted by Alison McKenzie on 11/29/11 at 06:40 PM Great descriptives! Wait until you're actually in the winter of your life, and read this from a "Life's Winter" perspective...heh. |
