We are only one by Sal Haeflingyou recycled that plate after we ate
breakfast at sunset
we layed together after the meal to feel
the current wrapping around our hands;
seashells got up and danced as we touched
that cold breeze messed up my hair
and you pointed at me and laughed,
the laugh was contagious and so on I
went with my own laughter, chuckling
until the butterflies in my stomach
stopped fluttering around in disbelief
your nose moved when you talked,
frankly, i couldn't get enough of it,
the little thin nose that stood in the
middle of your oval face with prickles
of hair halfway down
the diner booths were freezing, but the more
i looked at you, the more my body got warm
it took hours of conversing about our lives
and you reached out your hand and grabbed mine;
we floated down a path together that day and
have remained on that path ever since,
growing, nurturing, and loving
together as one 11/15/2011 Author's Note: reminiscing on the day i met you.
