Joanie by Craig AllenConstantly in motion, yet
moving with purpose, fixing food,
fixing drinks, hovering briefly
to banter with customers,
with friends, flashing a brilliant
smile, winking with a betwinkled
eye, moving to the next task,
like a hummingbird flitting.
Her portrait smiles seductively
down on the scene from its place
above the bookcase, and we
are caught between it and her,
as though we are an important
aside informing the narrative
of her work, parenthetically held
in her loving embrace.

Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 10/24/14 at 11:57 AM I echo Lori. You paint a lovely picture and devotional to a time which has for all intents and purposes vanished from the scene. |
