A likeable sort of poem by Shannon McEwenLike is a likable word
For a likeable sort
Liking the thing
That’s usually preferred
A likeable smile
In a likeable face
Taking the time to run
That winnable race
But is likeable a place
That fits in well
Into this dark and
Unlikeable space
Between the beginning
And the inevitable end
Where does this fit
And on what does it depend?
Like is a word
But what does it entail
And what truths
Does it really curtail?

Posted by Craig Allen on 11/14/11 at 12:36 AM This is cute. I like playing with a single word throughout a poem. It makes its way nicely to how we use "like" in place of other more meaningful words. Nicely done. |
