Correcting Mistakes

by Rob Littler

The threshold of knowing everything is just past
what someone else knows.
So beat on my little ones;
read those books. Fly to the ends of the earth
and back to the center of all being and beyond
the stars within your eyes for all it matters.
Go round the ring of the Universe, the largeness of it all.

That is my wish my friend, for you to take the mighty walk.
Brave the infiniteness of it all.
Learn to live and love and have a ball.
Go high and far and wide and deep.
Over mountains and through valleys down two roads
in any woods with miles and miles and no time to sleep.

Walk the lines of what you read. Make it a creep
through the pages of another’s mind.
Through the thoughts of others you wind
up making a dent in all the time that has been spent
trying to know everything.

if this poem is talking to me, then I say thanks for affording me this trip which I hope is round and if not, I would be contended still to have made the journey as would have me discover or recover the one I knew or only thought I knew. either way it is worth the trip to go out of bounds of knowing oneself and into realms we could only imagine which in my case is much the more preferred, to leave it to the imagination. Most oft I would rather imagine a place rather than actually venturing there, as it is rare that any place which we have polished in our imagination, can compare to the luster we have given it. This ode like a key is fitting enough to turn and unlock the mysteries we've always known to be kept behind closed doors, privy only to contenting themselves.
