Time Passes

by George Hoerner

i was born
hatched if you will
as a world war
was about to be launched

i never recovered
spending my years
at war with the world
as much as myself

plenty of changes
over seven decades
some for the better or
as the vow goes

it is the things
that stay the same
which make history
what it is

and we never know
until too much time
has passed

I completely get this. You have a knack for getting the most out of your words George!

We never know until much time has passed whether we make a dent...and even then we are never certain..loved how this made me think.. Excellent!

George, you are not alone, the world and each and ever soul may be at war, but I see truce and peace treaty written all over the face of this much contemplative ode, which has the Nobel in its sights as far as the eye can see. It sure gets my vote.
