Green initiatives in life

by Shannon McEwen

It’s hard to argue
With the assertion
“Your feelings are redundant”

Ignoring the facts
And pretending
It’s all okay

As life changes
Leaves those feelings
Behind in the blue bin

To be recycled
And packed unobtrusively
Into the dark corners

...quit talking about me and the way i run my [inner] life...a lovely, sneaky way to get at our human existence...a wower, or i'm making it heavier...nope. it's heavy, a well done thought, lived by everyone, the point you make is a wide swath of our existence- the Other.

That last stanza's punch is so powerful that I had to blink and re-read it twice. Nicely done.

I see you've been rummaging around in my re-cycling again, Shannon..and doing it oh so close to the house!

Lord knows we've all been there. Great write.

You're giving me reminders of what I'm supposed to be keeping in the back of my mind for future reference. I owe you my thanks.
