A convenient place to hide by Shannon McEwenThrow the covers over my head
Forget the world waiting outside
Imagine what life could be instead
Don’t always listen to what was said
I’ll just lie under here and hide
Throw the covers over my head
Ignore the nagging need to be fed
Incessant thoughts and feelings collide
Imagine what life could be instead
Ponder where life could have lead
Depression settles in to confide
Throw the covers over my head
Wonder about those words I’ve read
Ignore this sinking downward slide
Imagine what life could be instead
Wipe away these useless tears I shed
Knowing reality is on my side
Throw the covers over my head
Imagine what life could be instead

Posted by Mo Couts on 10/09/11 at 08:53 PM I have to agree with Denis; villanelles are quite difficult and I've not attempted one yet, but after reading this lovely one, I shall. Thank you! |
