Southern Girl

by Gregory R Schelske

That damn girl
keeps a little bit of Savannah
in her pocket.

We found a reason to carry on-
me and that southern girl;
She's no belle-
but, what the hell?
She carries sunsets
in her pocket.

And of a love
that once belonged to someone else-
that southern girl
reached through the dust
and handed me her halo.

Damn. What a southern girl that got you in her clutches and what a poem you were able to write about that.

Beautiful! It appeals to me, a transplanted Mississippian to a place that claims to be southern but you can't find grits on the breakfast menu anywhere up here. yankeeville! Just iwish potatoes everywhere... ;-}

p.s. better tag this explicit since you got "damn" in it.
