The day started with a tribute
to a day years ago.

The game started like this:

Percy Harvin, wearing the number twelve
receives the opening kickoff three
yards deep in the end zone.

He weaves past the ten, then the twenty with ease,
throwing the defenders from his back
and by the forty, he's gone.

A season-starting One hundred three yards of electric brilliance in Fifteen Seconds.

The next time they touch the ball, pinned on their own three yard line,
Donavan McNabb, in his first official play as a Minnesota Viking,
throws an interception.
(talk about "meet the new boss...")

It was all kind of downhill from the beginning.
