Keys

by George Hoerner

when ever i touch
the keyboard
it starts typing ‘t’s

T T t t T T t
it doesn’t matter
which key i touch
iT ends up giving
me what i didn’t
t ask for

and then it changes
to I i I i’s wasn’t
lookIng for

the keyboard
is possessed
now it goes after
m M M m ‘m’s

then it plays
with E e e E’s
all the keys
i’ve had
enough of

until i realize
i’ve run out
of it

Aha - took me a few reads. Yes, dwindling resources, reaching our allotted quota - I hear you, George.

Great style and tone. Ridiculously clever.

....and i thouught I was the only one with a computer that a mind of it's own. I swear sometimes it seems like my 'puter keyboard is haunted.

I suspect T.S. Eliot was right. The keyboard will not end with a bang but a whimper. I am glad there was enough keyboard available to you, George to type this wonderful poem.
