he's right, most of the time

by Charlie Morgan

the day was outlined like a driveway drawing
of houses, swings, bicycles by a 5 year-old.

they have a way of giving your day, lessons;
some for him; many, many more for you.

he knows, 'Papaw, Pawpaw i have a vision.'
i smile, awaiting a Nostradamus-answer.
'yeah, Papaw, if you drink too much coffee
you'll turn into a vampire. and Papaw, Papaw.
Vampires are real. no joke. right Papaw? huh?
Papaw vampires are real. right, Papaw, right?

he needs no answer as he furiously draws a
broken chalk line straignt to my heart.

Ditto them...those last 2 lines bring it together in such a wonderful way, Charlie!
