a brighter organism by Charlie Morgana dog barks, her yaps stir me;
an organism that doesn't split hairs.
one who separates herself from mankind,
de facto yet de jure gives it the edge.
somewhere exists a person, who is now
causing pain to a lesser, which is more;
that makes Tuesday a same-day journey.
i stretch my belief in 'aspca' and God;
assume, one more time, the stance of a man,
nearly cured, nearly a saint[sins and all],
one who is in a lone line of his own making,
and is continually looking at all who are there.
and my lovely gift of nature yaps once more;
soon she will tame her universe and once again
leap to my side. walk onto my lap and paw away.
i reinforce her and pour-out my strokes of love.
as i am the patient, she the healer.

Posted by Joan Serratelli on 09/06/11 at 11:57 AM I have had both wonderful dogs and terrible dogs/ It must be nice to have a dog who deserves this poem. My dog deserves a better life than she has here. No abuse, no neglect, but very little love. She is more than I can handle.
I wish I could love her more. |

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 09/13/11 at 07:52 PM bright...and beautiful, Charlie. That third stanza really did it for me, though the whole thing a pleasure to read, and digest, intellectually and spiritually. |
