How do I tell
A suffering world
That it’s going to be alright
When I cannot forgive
Myself?

..Because you're gonna be alright, Alison, that's why

I hear ya Alison. We are always the hardest on ourselves. We need to look upon ourselves with a kinder eye and less criticism. This is a very relevant poem. :)

Knowing you the way I do, I know that you have a kind heart and good intentions. This is life, not heaven, and we don't have to be perfect, we just have to be willing to apologize...to others, AND ourselves. Then, we have to learn to ask for forgiveness and treat ourselves with the kindnesses we'd share with others. It'll be okay; I promise that. *hugs & fond warm wishes your way, Ali*

Yeah, you are a lot more than alright. But I hear you, my dear. I beat up on myself far more than anyone else could do... (as far as I know :-)) But you raise an interesting question that one could pose for our society.

TRUE- every person should read this piece. G-d will forgive you, but you NEED to make peace with yourself first. I am my own worst critic. I am harsher on myself than anyone should be. I dwell on things until I fall apart with guilt. Great write- thanks for sharing this wisdom.
