XXX - Within Your Look

by Austin Halling-Rowe

A dream,—my life revived within your look;
So I told you, as I told you everything else,
My joy—So plain now, so easy to say.
And you answered “I will—
Is your preference girl or boy?”
Elation stayed, but destiny would not have it.
And the angels that converged,
With new mission, descend'd to part us.
Did I want too much? I wanted you—
I wanted born that part of your soul and flesh,
That would be with me should you go;
Wanted to assure you'd leave me never.
Pray not condemn me for my wish,
I love you now and will forever.

Author's Note: Once upon a time, there was a girl that wished to have a child with me. But it was not to be...!

And that's okay, too! You got a lovely poem from it nonetheless.
