passed the test

by Charlie Morgan

took Jesus to apply for a job;
his two disiples, Maurice-6;
Jo-Jo--5 were in tow, walking.

Jesus walked. that's how i knew.
his name Adam was a ploy, i knew.
took him to Jack in the Box.

i watched his disiples. we drank
a toast of fellowship, smiles were
everywhere. games galore, arm wrestling,
winners, losers. 'again!' maurice shouts
through grinning lost teeth and Jody
wiggling his right-front and proudly exclaiming,
'mine's loose. see?' Jesus, looks up
from the application and grins.

i must've passed the test.

Author's Note: ...a real event: picked-up the three mentioned (whom i had never met) and felt like Jesus put us together. Adam got the job and lil' Maurice and Jody are none the wiser of all that happened. we spoke Jesus' name as we talked of Heaven and who we knew was already there...and waiting on us...IT FILLED MY SOUL TO THE BRIM. A SQUEEZABLE MOMENT.

The style and flow of this is perfect. It's an incredibly creative rhythm.
