this little man

by Charlie Morgan

as he coasted by me in the living room,
he mutters with aplomb, 'papaw, i love you;'
and he continues, 'papaw, i love you and
everybody in this family.' my fingers stop.

speaking of laurels; i want to rest on mine;
i want the world to hear, this little man loves!

i want to bronze the moment, have a woman find
him in his glory of love; before the light
in his veins goes out and turns to blood.

Nice write Charlie and it is so true how quickly the brilliant shine of innocence becomes clouded and turns to rust as we age.

These are the moments to capture, eh? I love this Charlie. You and your little man's heart.

Charlie- you're a good man , a wonderful writer and, best of all; a loving "Zede"- Pawpaw. Your Grandson is very lucky.

A delightful way to look at the innocence of such young love.

Ah, Charlie I do so love - and can relate to-that last incredible stanza. And as for you being a superb "papaw" I sure ain't surprised!
