black diamond arteries

by Steven Kenworthy

she sleeps in cocoons because claustrophobia is her first love
delicately wrapped
she is the prettiest mummy in first aid class.

if you give the collarbones strong shoulders
they will outlast the burdens and heavy wings
long distance phone calls from heavy glass cases,
she stays in museums and sleeps on the floor.

bright muscles, warm blood & beautiful systems
are down the heat rises
she's keeping her cool in summer climates
primates are foolish her animal instincts
come forward come forward.
she sleeps in the fountain.

she sleeps in cocoons because claustrophobia is her first love
delicately wrapped
she is the prettiest mummy in first aid class.

prayers in ribbons and electronic kisses
the shell is exhausting
it's everything she misses
wishes upon stars small thumbprint on the moon
it's the same size there as it is right here.

six sentences and seventh sense
she feels his heartbeat in dialtones
he wakes her up with his thoughts.
she sleeps in his dreams
it is time to come out it is time to wait longer
the garden the garden she sleeps in the garden.

another band-aid to the collection daily CPR
you fly away from the nest
to see how far the organ sounds
loud the music has the pulse of an attack
the dancefloor is on fire with
distance and napalm honesty.

she sleeps in cocoons because claustrophobia is her second love
delicately wrapped
she is the prettiest mummy and the head of the class.

she takes care of him everywhere
she comes out of her shell
artillery arteries
she pumps memories back to the chest
a thousand words later

she's hanging in there
it's everything he said

"she is the prettiest mummy in first aid class." I adore this line. Your experience is adding another dimension to your works - a fine piece.

My favorite lines are "long distance phone calls from heavy glass cases, she stays in museums and sleeps on the floor. " :)
