I Said Goodnight by Rachelle HoweStop go set the table with our memories
plates of china which crack and porcelain and
porcupine effects we touch and go the
gas petal to the metal and we are
zooming through the living room of our
mistakes and
the hardwood was a great place to fall.
Crash and corpses
corporals marching in fine tune like the
ratatat drums of our trespasses.
We touch and go touch and go touch and
wish we were someone else
anywhere else
anyone but we are
stuck like muck and mire and slandering.
Stop go set plates here and light me a candle vigil
for the funeral is long and
tedious.
I will never be your epitaph
I will never be your monogram
I will never be your Dear John letter.
So stop and go set the table with our memories.
You will always have a place at my head.
You will always have a place, cracked and waiting.
