I will beat this poem with a stick for no good reason by E. A. Pughrake the green with blades of steel
quickly carving a cutting of flap jack fronds
I rake green
sand
with blades of steal
soil earth
bury my body
in
soil earth
heavens call
I shan’t hear
I have stuffed my ears
with ripe figs
and smothered my body
with soil from the hole
the mole turned over
upon the land I stand
bury my body
in soil and earth
I shall reject heavens call
deny ashes
for it is in the land
soil and earth
my body will land
my body will land
fall
bury me in pine
and I will
turn to dirt
I will turn to dirt
home to worms
But while
in my body
I make plans
rake the green with blades of steel
quickly carving a cutting of flap jack fronds
in a field of green upon an old tractor
only a human can build and drive
only a human will consider how to live
how to die

Author's Note: I have decided to stick with my most recent triplet, and see what happens when rewriting the original one poem that became three. This poem was originally called Worms of today “A” but then I changed the name because it got no play.
Now the first poem of the triplet labeled A,B,andC has a new name and some new words. When I did the 30/30 challenge is was fun and difficult to come up with a new poem a day but It got me wondering –what if I beat the same poems with a stick for 30 days?

Posted by Paul Lastovica on 10/09/11 at 01:59 AM some poems just seem to be asking for a beating, don't they? I enjoyed this - the idea of raking over the same set of words as many times possible. |
