X - Said In Silence

by Austin Halling-Rowe

Say not 'I love you' any more,
For those three words are most abused—
'Spite best intentions said o'er and o'er,
Soon glaze mine eyes like dated news.
O, speak to me without such sentence,
As words, at best, are just a shell,
Which house the yolk's full nourishments;
Full deep within it is to tell.
Yet, say every other way you can,
Dear, such rapture you have to me,
In silence can be said a book than
Remain captive only to that which speaks.
For not a word ever did assure,
Any soul, that long would love endure.
