Slinky Summer Dress by Ken HarnischIf I dare say yes
And leave the hum-drum behind
If you really want me to escape
And find you and your willowy arms
Then I’ll need this one gift from you
Wear that slinky summer dress;
You know the one;
It has thin spaghetti straps
Which sit loosely on your shoulders;
The ones I’ve slipped across
Your arms using but my lips
The one that crumples in the
Front as if on command
So my quivering mouth can taste
The salt and honey all at once
And my tongue can run
Reconnaissance over hills
And shadowed valleys
With the dress retreating
As if it always knew
Let us lay closely
Belly to belly. I want the
Back of my hand to move
A stray wisp of hair from your face
I want to feel you shimmering beneath me
And the diaphanous silk which is
The guardian of your all for now
And when it lies crumpled on the floor,
After our sweet mutual
Release is ensured, I will lift
It up between us and
Take it to my face.
Then I will press my lips
Against it, and brand it indelibly
Mine.
