Taxicabs by Kate ZimmermanDo you think there’s a reason I can’t sleep at night
My eyes like black holes in my face
Staring fixedly at a point off into space
And I look at the light reflected in my brass bed
But it’s you that I’m thinking of
It’s you that I’m thinking of
And do you think there’s a reason I can’t sleep at night
It’s you it’s you it’s you it’s you
A little child stands on the streets whispering
Don’t be afraid to turn the page, it’s ok
Everyone hears him mouthing things all children say
He knows me too well and I shout to the sky
It’s you that I’m thinking of
It’s you I’m thinking of
And do you think there’s a reason I can’t sleep at night
It’s you it’s you it’s you it’s you
Nature screams along with me
But taxicabs drown out the message
Don’t be afraid to turn the page, it’s ok
It’s still you I’m thinking of
And do you think there’s a reason I can’t sleep at night? 08/29/2006 Posted on 07/06/2011 Copyright © 2025 Kate Zimmerman

Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 11/08/14 at 03:07 PM words we pose ourselves over and over, for reason we cannot pose them to the ones we need to pose them to, save in poetic form. there is much to admire in this ode to remembering what we wish to forget save love, ever the persistent character playing o'er and o'er in our heads and hearts simply wont permit it. congratulations on POTD. |
