Orbits by Kate ZimmermanWe were a chemical equation
Bound to explode
A fire burning latently
For what, we don't know
But it's easier to think
That last neutron made us sink
That we were on the brink
Not gone so suddenly
Orbits
That crossed and collided
Bonded
And so we ignited
Watch the mushroom cloud with me
Now we reach for homeostasis
Why do you scream?
I'll give my tears- a dilution
To lighten the scene
But I'd rather be with you
Though it's hard for us to do
Though I don't think you want to
Have we lost everything?
Orbits
That crossed and collided
Bonded
And so we ignited
Watch the mushroom cloud with me
I'd say I'm sorry but
You're deaf from the explosion
We should have always

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 07/05/11 at 10:48 PM Great poem Kate...Relationship taken to an atomic level. Hypnotizing language here, that kept me spellbound through the whole performance. Encore! |
Posted by Angela Stevens on 07/06/11 at 02:19 PM There is some great imagery here. I'd like to read more of your poetry. |
