Lost in Contemplation by Jeffrey ParrenIt is merely within a blink of an eye
between complete darkness
and the light shown upon knowledge
through experiencing
that which one has pondered.
Why can't foresight be 20/20?
You can think yourself
forth and back again
without ever really finding out the answer.
The second something has been done
the truth shall be seen.
If it was only so easy
as to pull yourself away
for but a moment
and see the bigger picture.
It is too often too late
that we understand or appreciate
those things we hold dear.
I've thought myself in circles
for a better part of my life
and finally
it has dawned on me
that being lost in contemplation
is a result of not finding out
what I could already know
by just getting up
and doing something. 07/02/2011 Author's Note: Not my strongest stuff, but at least it's something.

Posted by Charlie Morgan on 07/02/11 at 03:40 PM ...not laconic at all[the thoughts of 'wished i'd known that then' kind a thing, a wonder expose of something as deep as understanding; book, nay, tomes have been written on the subj. and you did a great job with only these words...well done, meboy! well done. |
Posted by Glenn Currier on 07/02/11 at 04:16 PM I have to agree with my good friend Charlie. I understand the "thinking myself in circles" thing quite well, indeed. On the other hand, in the past I have taken entirely too much time "acting" and not near enough time contemplating. I like your poem. It speaks to me. Thanks. |
