LONLINES

by Joan Serratelli

My mother was a very unhappy soul
a square peg
who lived in a round world
and couldn't fit

There was no happiness
in her life

She was haunted
caught in loveless
marriage'
I could see it
in her eyes

She was alone
that was her destiny
and every step she took
was disasterous

She was trapped

...just like me

The sins of one generation
are passed down

and so it goes

There is a biblical weightiness to some of your poems. This is one of them.
