a short walk with words

by Charlie Morgan

i stood beside the rosewood cabinet,
not knowing that it made the old man panic.
his wrinkled face, eyes judging me: harmful.
he took a mental mug-shot and enlarged it.

by now i was hoping for an appearane with the appeals court,
while i smirked through the entire allocution to the charges.
accused of being normal, and, i, guilty of the alleged crime,
slink to the back pew and sit; pentance pouring silently.

since i was a Catholic, in a Catholic church i knew pentance
disguises itself as Guilt. heavy words, heavy shoulders.

An interesting list of prompts - I admire your ability to put something together from them. My fav line is enlarging on the mental mug-shot.
