Farewell Friend

by Matt Odell

Farewell friend,
faux fur and all.
Slip silently into that sunset.
That oh, so glorious, sunset.
And meet me.

Meet me on the other SIDE of the world,
that place where dreams are made of.
We’ll leave our cares and our worries
here. Where our paths crossed.
X marks the spot.

Dig deep for that treasure.
Deep within you.
Discover your own internal glow.
And when we meet again we’ll swap,
the contents of our rucksacks,
And the stories of our journeys,
Knowing full well we had the treasure with us
all along.

loving every word, their every subtlety and nuance and suggestion that the treasure was always under our very noses.
