Denial

by Clara Mae Gregory

Cohesive is the denial
that binds the halcyon mask
to the wounded worn face.

Behind its cover,
are bleary eyes
ablaze with emerald.

On the lip's creases
cleave the emulous lies
too hard to swallow.

I love what a little scorpion of a poem this is, how the power builds and culminates ultimately in the biting tail, kudos poet!
