The Busker

by Maria Francesca

I strum
silken strings
while I drum
while I sing
while I play
while I try
while I pray
while I lie -
one more notch
on my belt
as you watch
as you melt
as you stay -
take a chance;
every day
a new dance
and a ducat
or two
in my bucket will do -
every cent
that I've made
keeps the rent
getting payed
so I'm clever
and spry
and forever I'll try
and I'll twirl
and I'll flip -
give a girl a nice tip.

Wonderfully creative in its narrative flow and word play. Nice work as always.

I did not know the term "busking" - I always enjoy street performers. This is as catchy as the performers themselves. Thank you.

I like the horse gallop meter in this one. Clippity Clop. Clippity Clop.
