So Below

by James Blaylock

So Below

stepping out onto the thin ice,
I knew what lurked so below
was the surest abyss, no love
-----------------------------

here hope was at an all time low,
a black cradle of sorrow, if you will
and the distance ate at everything

Author's Note: This piece was written for a word challenge. Although, I rather enjoy it - and it's lack of hopefulness. lol btw, the words I had to use were: Ice, Love, Abyss, Distance, Hope and Cradle.
