Just One

by Theresa Marinelli

Two is too many
Three is a sin
We're talkin sweets
How I'd love to be thin

So i have this little
chat - all to myself
whether or not to grab
the candy on the shelf

Two is too many
Three is a sin
I'll settle for just one piece
so I can become thin

The verse
I have rehearsed
so well I can't deny
Perhaps instead of candy
a piece of pecan pie

Two is too many
Three is a sin
PIE vs CANDY
Will I ever get thin?

Perhaps the pecan pie
was a bad idea
I never eat it plain
in my humble abode
Not in any way except ala mode!

Two is too many
Three is a sin
I just want ONE treat
and then I'll get thin

Maybe just ice cream
the butter pecan I so crave
Just a small bowl
and then I'll behave

Two is too many
Three is a sin
I'm just eating ONE bowl
So I can get thin.

A clever conversation. I can relate to the numbers and temptations in this so well. Thanks for this.
