III - Dismember Our Past Slowly

by Austin Halling-Rowe

That you withdraw I do honor.
Take that which you wish and begone!
Oh, leave with all for once and forever,
My soul is thrashed that it's ne'er done.
For each departure leaves much after,
In substance and tired memory,
When you take this once, that 'nother
And dismember our past so slowly;
As time forgets we once were lovers,
Gone past in river's ceaseless flowing.
Yet all delays keep you coming,
So that you are never gone too far too long.
And your sweet sight recalls those tokens,
Of tender times and soft words spoken.
