precious

by Maria Massarella

when time
sheds its veils
and night opens
its heart
in silentness
i enter mine
embracing
the lightness
of moments
wearing the
day's fragrance
while tomorrow's breath
caresses my fingertips
and birds
tweet
into the pre-dawn

i surrender
to this enchanted wake
between days
graced to waltz
my inebriated spirit
into the trusted
hands of God
for whatever
life may bring
it is a blessing
to be in it

I like the touch of cynicism in this, but I especially like how that doesn't get in the way of the ending. Another knockout.

I really enjoyed the whole feel of this piece. It made me picture a solo being, sitting still, and thinking hard on all of the wonders of creation. Great write!

What a lovely poem Maria. Really touches my spirit, and reminds everyone that despite all that's wrong with the world, it still hold much beauty. As I saw and heard on a recent documentary, we humans can do great things, but God does them better.
