Prayer to Amaterasu Omikama

by Ann Krischus

Come out from the cave,
Amaterasu Omikama,
Shining Sun of your people.

Come tend to the broken,
Shining Sun, Goddess,
these are Your children.

Come into the darkness,
Goddess who keeps hope
in the heart of Her people.

Come take away the storm,
You Who Shines From Heaven,
in You, darkness is destroyed.

Come fill their eyes,
the kamidana* of so many hearts,
this prayer is now a rainbow over Japan.

Come paint the gardens again,
Your Radiance will always return,
this You teach to Your children.

Come out from the cave, Beautiful Goddess of the Sun!
Come tend to the broken, Beautiful Goddess Shining!
Come into the darkness, Beautiful Goddess Whose Light Shall Prevail!
Come take away the storm, Beautiful Goddess Who Cannot Be Defeated!
Come fill their eyes, Beautiful Goddess Whose Rays Rule!
Come paint the gardens again, Beautiful Goddess of the Sun!
