Stone Roses

by James Blaylock

Stone Roses

the cure for a cold is rest
but the arrested are so cold,

they went in knowing, nothing
but evolve as hardened flowers...

they budded on the inside of concrete
and steel, but awoke as mere criminals

what can be done; once that lifestyle choice
has been devoured, then fed again, repeatedly

The contrast of stone to roses is so stark - I like how you explore this notion. Those first two lines - a nice play with words.
