XXXI - The Ugly and the Jeweled

by Austin Halling-Rowe

How much have I trained my thought,
To recount our better days?
At every shift of an eye glad-weary
With the weight--Your image,
Scent and sight rebound,
With light remembrance, and all
Prompt'd by this and that view and visage;
I have schooled my thought much.
And while the lesser councel of books,
Attempt to spur my wrath and ridicule,
The greater mind of wisely hearts,
Counsel that I cherish the ugly and jeweled,
And how much I do recall with sprite,
Your voice, your touch, your sight.

I understand this too much...this sums up every day of my thoughts for me...and many like me...and not a day goes by that I don't cry. Excellent poetics.
