XXI - If Love Finds Me Worthy

by Austin Halling-Rowe

I want not for that which is not mine,
My own beloved, who has lifted me,
You must already be my own for me to keep.
And I, who only seeks to offer my suffered love,
Must be the same. To be any other way Dear would be a larceny
Of hearts that should never have been seized.
But if, God please, you should be to me,
Then we were born to His purpose,
And to His purpose we shall be forevermore.
Oh, let the sweetest kisses I've ever savored;
Oh, let your breath I've breathed into my suffered soul
Be mine, be mine without waver. And if Love
Finds me worthy to live out my life with you,
Oh let, God please, let me die in your arms!

Author's Note: I DO sometimes want that which is not mine. It NEVER, EVER works out!
