Within the Grove

by T.J. Carver

Within the grove

I lay with thee

under starry sky.

Within the grove

I sing to thee

of the times gone by.

Within the grove

I lovest thee

and whisper to thee why.

Without the grove

this cannot be

my maid begins to cry

Without the grove

no more said she.

The song begins to die.

Without the grove

she lovest not me

and whispers to me why....

Congrats on POTD T.J.! Reminds of my own lost (more unrequited) love in a grove where I grew up; now just haunting memories. Nicely constructed and expressed with maximum impact.

Lovely piece, echoing the love poems of old, a pleasure! Congrats on POTD also. Peace, jewels

Quiet and beautiful; makes me think of centuries past...

at least she whispers why and doesn't just leave you hanging. very cool piece. the repetition really adds to it i think.

Makes me think of poems of the romantic period.
