women for whom i should not be writing poems: vi by Brynn Dizackyou are not faultless.
you are not bone-colored,
but mostly, you are not
mine.
have you seen this film?
it reminds me of the time
we never accidentally
crossed paths at the grocery store, reaching
simultaneously for the same
produce display.
how our eyes never locked,
how there was no nervous
laughter,,
no infinite moment in which
we both suddenly knew
something.
i leave my prints on all the
apples at the store near where i live, and
across the river, the
limes collect your
skin-cells. but,
we will leave them behind.
then,
other people will come,
take these newly corporeal things to their homes, and
eat them.
it is possible we are destined to
orbit around one another
solely in this way.
