#24 - a tale grave and watery

by Linda Fuller

she calls him marco
her joy, her sorrow
he calls her polo
his rich man’s game
she paddles toward the sound
of his voice
marco
polo
he’s moved it seems
she changes course
midstream
marco
polo
he’s done a one-eighty
her frustration peaks
she peeks
he’s blowing bubbles
in a mermaid’s cocktail
she drowns her sorrow
